Electron Van de Graaff Accelerator

Electron Van de Graaff Accelerator

The electron Van de Graaff accelerator is located in the Radiation Interactions and Dosimetry Group of the Ionizing Radiation Division. This is a user facility which is utilized to produce intense beams of electrons and photons for experiments in radiation modification of materials, radiation hardening, and detector response. The accelerator provides a direct current beam of electrons with beam energies from 0.5 MeV to 3 MeV, beam currents from 1 × 10-9 A to 1 × 10-4 A, and both horizontal and vertical beam ports.
