Neutron Phase Contrast
Imaging: The top image is a normal radiographic image of the yellow
jacket wasp shown in the center panel. The bottom image is a neutron phase
contrast image of the same wasp where the delicate features of the wasp are
much more clearly visible. The phase contrast image is obtained by using a
novel non-interferometric experimental technique. Although this technique has
been applied with other forms of radiation, this is the first time that it has
been applied using neutrons.
